With more extreme climatic conditions and increased pressure from development, water has become a precious resource. Our waters are used for a wide range of competing activities including water supply, effluent disposal and recreation. It is therefore important to investigate, plan, manage and monitor the aquatic environment to ensure that the anthropogenic uses do not adversely impact on each other or the environment.
