Contaminated land case study

To assist our Client in the process of identifying potentially significant environmental liabilities associated with their portfolio of sites, we developed an environmental management tool (basic conceptual site model (CSM) for each site) to enable the assessment and risk ranking of sites.

 

Based on this, a programme of site assessment and remediation/improvement was implemented to identify and minimise potential liabilities.  The remedial work included improvements to containment, surfacing and drainage whilst also relocating potential sources of contamination to less sensitive sites.

 

Provisional site exit costs (based on potential remediation) were also assigned to each site to assist in strategic decision making for the portfolio. The site model also addressed our Clients need to demonstrate their commitment to addressing potential environmental issues to regulatory authorities.
